Take the Helm Package
This Package is for the student that has covered the basics and now aspires to run their own yacht
This course combines the International Flotilla skipper/ Watchkeeper in the first week. Then a week long mile building on one of the maxi yachts from Prosail and Southern Cross Sailing, the VHF Radio Operators Course completes your second week. The Third week you start you International Bareboat skipper course which culminates with a written exam for the theory, the following week you will be the skipper under instruction for three days this will solidify all that you will have learned.
Week 1: Internatioal Flotilla skipper/ Watchkeeper course on "Spirit"
Week 2: Is two 2 day, 2 night trips on a maxi Yacht with Prosail and Southern Cross and finishes with the IYT VHF Radio Operators Course. The idea here is that you will gain experience with different skippers that will help you see the different ways that things can be done on different Yachts. The end of the week concludes with the VHF Radio Operators Course.
Week 3: You are now back on "Spirit" to start your IYT Bareboat Skipper course. Where you will be trained in running the yacht from co-ordinating the crew on deck, safely navigating the vessel and making sure you have enough food, fuel and everything you need to put to sea for 3 days and 2 nights. There is also a written exam at the end of the week in which the pass mark is 70%.
Week 4: You are now going to be taking over our Yacht "Spirit" as the "skipper" under supervision. For the next 3 days you will be with the Instructor who will be training the new crew but all the calls will be yours, unless you are going to put the crew or the vessel at risk the Instructor will take over.
