Master Of Yachts LimitedThe IYT Master of Yachts Limited Certificate is a 200 ton Masters Certificate of Competency for operating Yachts up to 150 nautical miles offshore. The programme is extensive theory and practical based course designed to provide the highest standards of maritime education for both the professional and recreational yachtsman and woman. It is an intensive course designed for experienced crew with sufficent on the water experience.

Minimum entry level required for this certificate – candidates are required to have logged a total of 3000 nautical miles and 50 days at sea including 12 hours on watch at night underway, before advancing to the International Master of Yachts Limited Certificate

IYT Syllabus International Master of Yachts Offshore

Liveaboard Theory & Practical

This module is designed to cover the theory components of the IYT Master of Yachts Offshore course over a minimum of 6 days. There will be a series of theory examinations to be successfully completed during the course with a final theory examination on the last day.

  • Meteorology
  • Pilotage
  • Passage Planning
  • Electronic Navigation Aids
  • International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea
  • General ships knowledge, knowledge of aids to navigation, marlinspike seamanship

  

LIVEABOARD THEORY & PRACTICAL – MODULE 20

This module is designed to cover the practical components of the IYT Master of Yachts Offshore course while living aboard the vessel for 5 days.

The final certificate will only be issued if the practical exam is passed within 12 months of the Shore based Course completion Certificate, or the theory course will have to be re taken.

What does the
Examination consist
Of?

  • Conducted by approved IYT Yachtmaster Examiner
  • Oral and practical test onboard a yacht
  • Candidates must have sufficient ability to
    • handle, dock and anchor the boat with a required level of confidence
    • show command ability and control the work of other crew members with suitable competence.
  • Candidates can expect to be examined on any subject contained within the syllabus and to be questioned on any of their yachting experience to date

The examination can only be taken if you have completed the Professional Master of Yachts offshore Practical and Theory Courses, have the required sea-time and successfully completed the STCW95 Basic Safety Training
