Master of Yachts Mate 200gt/ Coastal CourseIYT Master of Yachts mate 200gt/Coastal Certification is of vital importance because it is a globally recgnised measure of competency for taking command of Power and Sail vessels. This certification not only makes yachting a pleaseure, but also a safer persuit for those who wish to participate. The course provides the highest standard for maritime education for the professional and recreational yachtsman and women and provides a vastly increased level of confidence in their abiltiy to handle a yacht following the intensive level of on water training

Minimum entry level for this certificate – candidates are required to have logged a total of 800 nautical miles and 25 days at sea, including 8 hours on watch at night underway, before advancing to the International Master of Yachts Mate/200gt Coastal Certificate

THEORY & PRACTICAL EXAMINATION

What does the
Examination consist
Of?

  • Conducted by approved IYT Yachtmaster Examiner
  • Oral and practical test onboard a yacht
  • Candidates must have sufficient ability to
    • handle, dock and anchor the boat with a required level of confidence
    • show command ability and control the work of other crew members with suitable competence.
  • Candidates can expect to be examined on any subject contained within the syllabus and to be questioned on any of their yachting experience to date

The examination can only be taken if you have completed the Professional Master of Yachts Coastal Practical and Theory Courses, have the required sea-time and successfully completed the STCW95 Basic Safety Training.

Completion of the Master of Yachts Coastal Course is not a guarantee of passing the examination and receiving your Certificate.
