Master of Yachts Unlimited - OceanThe IYT Master of Yachts Unlimited Certificate is a Commercial 200 ton Masters Certificateof Competency for ooperating Yachts globally. The certificate is a qualification that indicates that the holder hass sufficent knowledge of celestial navigation , to navigate globally using a sextant and to plan, undertake and manage an ocean passage, together with a comprehensive understandingof the factors involvedwith regardto routing and meterology/ weather matters

IYT Syllabus International Master of Yachts Unlimited Module 21

This module is designed to cover the theory components of the IYT Master of Yachts Unlimited course in astronavigation and worldwide meteorology over a minimum of 6 days. A thorough knowledge of all subjects covered in previous IYT Master of Yacht courses is assumed. There will be a final theory examination of the whole syllabus on the last day.

Candidates must hold an IYT Master of Yachts Limited certificate or MCA recognized equivalent.

Examination & Requirements

The examination can only be taken if you have completed the Master of Yachts Limited Practical and Theory Courses and obtained the IYT Master of Yachts Limited Certificate of Competence. You must have completed the IYT Master of Yachts Unlimited Theory course before submitting paper work.

Qualifying Passage
Requirements

  • Submit details of a minimum 600 mile ocean passage
    1. 600 continuous NON COASTAL (out of sight of land) nautical  miles
    2. 400 miles of which must have been at least 150 miles from the nearest land
    3. Must be supported by a copy of the first and last pages of  the log book for the voyage signed by captain/owner
    4. Candidates must have acted in a responsible capacity such as captain, mate or watchkeeper and taken a full part in the navigation and passage making decisions

     

Application & Submission 
Requirements

  • Completed Master of Yachts Unlimited Practical exam Application Form
  • File/Envelope clearly marked with candidates name, all papers/charts should also be marked with candidates name
  • Copy of IYT or IYT recognized Master of Yachts Limited Certificate
  • Copy of IYT Master of Yachts Unlimited Theory Course completion certificate
  • Copy of the 4 STCW95 Basic Safety Training Certificates
  • Detailed theoretical passage plan to include weather, current and routing considerations
  • Copy of passport
  • Two passport sized photographs in color with the candidate’s name and dat of birth noted on the back
Examination

An IYT Master of Yachts Unlimited Exam will replace the need for the practicle component. The candidate will be required to work a theoretical passage plan, reduce sights, complete a sun-run-sunand compass check under exam conditions.
